Nelson, who was most dominant, rode four winners which came in tandem starting from the second event astride the odds-on favourite Mark To Market for trainer Patrick Chang and followed up with Prime Minister in the secondary feature for the Calvin O’Sullivan Memorial Cup, Image Dancer and the bang in form Cock Robin for trainers Richard Todd, Dwight Chen and Lambert Khwalsingh respectively.

Title chasing jockey Dane Nelson rode two winners at Caymanas Park on day one of the two-day Easter Carnival of racing which will climax on Easter Monday April 13, 2009
Nelson, who started the day with 26 winners for the season, guided home the 4-5 favourite Apes Hill for trainer Anthony Nunes in the second event before returning to boot home another favourite in the even money chance Ming Lei for trainer Andrew Mcdonald in the sixth event on the ten-race card.

The eight-time champion Wayne Dacosta trained She’s Magic and the 14-time champion Philip Feanny trained Bruceontheloose scored contrasting victories at Caymanas Park in the traditional prep events, the two “trial” races the Thornbird and Prince Consort Stakes over 1400 metres, for the season’s first classics the 1000 and 2000 Guineas to be run at a mile on Saturday April 4.

Backed as if losing was out of the question (1-9) Regal Selection left no optimism for his few detractors after making his intentions known from early when racing on the front end in uncharacteristic fashion.

Veteran trainer Noel Ennevor and title chasing jockey Paul “Country” Francis secured three wins each at Caymanas Park, these including their win as a team with the 4-1 chance Medical Report in the day’s feature the Eros Trophy over 1400 metres
Besides triumphing with Medical Report in the 11th running of the grade one feature in the pen-ultimate event on the nine-race card, Ennevor saddled Cougway (7-1) to a maiden a victory in the second event and returned a half hour later to post another in the 4-5 favourite Hombre, both over the (circular nine) 1820 metres distance.

Waited with after leading his five opponents from the gate Ministerofjustice (Dane Nelson up) went by the fleet footed Mr Skill as a team with the even money favourite Super Dave approaching the home turn but once entering the stretch-drive drew clear from rivals to win by all of three lengths at odds of 9-5.
