 “He’s a different horse,” was how Neive Graham described of his recently acquired (claimed) Forever Mine following the gelding’s wire-to-wire win in the G.A. Sarge Bucknor Memorial Trophy over the 1000 metres (straight five) course at Caymanas Park.

Sent off at odds of 7-1 in the ten-horse field Forever Mine (Paul Francis up) led marginally from Bullet Train with Trevor Simpson astride coming onto the main track and soon sprinted clear for a widening 3 1/4 lengths victory.

Staying on to best the rest was the public’s choice and Dane Nelson ridden Ministerofjustice as The Real Stream under champion jockey designate Omar Walker merely plodded on to be beaten a further 1 1/4 length away in third.

A dark bay progeny of Alisios out of the Corsicana mare Meant To Be, the Trevor Dunkley Jr owned Forever Mine covered the trip in 58 2/5 seconds to improve his bankroll to Jm$3 million culminating from seven wins and 32 starts.

Elsewhere on the ten-race card Spacesaver partnered by Devon A. Thomas romped home in race no. four of the Champion Betting/CTL Claiming Series #2 over 1600 metres.

Sporting the silks of Divine Strong Spacesaver (5-2) was scoring for the second time in two weeks and on this occasion won by all of eight lengths to the good over the Brian Harding ridden Touchdown and Miss Tims with apprentice Robert Halledeen in the irons in tandem and both of whom were separated by a mere short head at the wire.

The race was sullied by a spill where Digi N’ Jiggy buckled in the vicinity of the half-mile attributing to the fall also of Samba Dancer and We Will See.

Their respective riders Doushane Gordon, Omar Walker and Vijay Ashley escaped serious injury and though shaken up and stood down by the medical practitioner on duty for the remainder of the day were reported to have suffered bruises at worst.

Meanwhile title chasing Paul Francis and apprentice Jodeien Anderson rode two wins each to share the riding honours.

Besides Forever Mine in the penultimate event Francis was successful earlier aboard Ryan Darby’s Badjeros Rose in the second event whereas Anderson’s double comprise Enos Brown’s Mister Officer and Leroy Biggs Rule By Secrecy in the fourth and seventh events respectively.

It was Biggs’ first career win since acquiring his licence in late August of this year.
